A (hopefully) beginner-friendly cube of my favourite cards I come across as I explore the game. Power level is nice and low, without too many complex mechanical tricks to learn.
I'm a big fan of exploring a game and building a cube for general play as I collect the sets. I'm lucky in that SWU's earliest sets are very affordable, so the plan for the cube so far is to begin with the first couple of sets in a singleton cube form, and then as I collect each set to expand it from there. The aim is a reasonably big cube - probably around 540 cards plus leaders and bases - so it can be feasibly drafted neatly between 8 people or do Twin Suns draft or sealed in a pod of at least 4 players. The challenge is keeping the mechanics simple to understand since my regular playgroups don't know SWU; in testing they've picked the game mechanics up quickly, but ideally the cube needs to be easy to grok.
Leaders should be spread as evenly as possible across aspects; I'm aiming to enable a few typal strategies, a few generic ones, and maybe at least off-kilter leader per colour to allow for some odder brews. Leaders are drafted separately first, before the cube.
Bases are only available at common; I'm avoiding the rare bases with abilities. Bases are not drafted but available freely in a pile so players can simply grab whatever one they need for their colours.
Ideally the cube will be big enough to allow for pick-2 drafting; packs are drafted at 4 packs of 15 cards, with a 35 or 40 card minimum decksize.
The cube is very much in constant change and development. NEXT BIG CHANGE: Collecting and adding Twilight of the Republic!
